The answer came from Harvard researchers. The average intake that proved to be the most beneficial in the new study was about 315 mg of caffeine per day, which corresponds to a moderate, daily enjoyment of coffee.
This study, conducted through the involvement of more than 50,000 women over 30 years, shows that participants who drink coffee every day have a greater chance of “healthier aging,” meaning stronger physical and mental well-being, with a lower risk of chronic diseases. The authors of the analysis also point out that every additional intake of caffeine (up to about five cups a day) was associated with a slight but measurable increase in the chances of better vitality, although the optimal results are still achieved with a moderate amount of one to three cups.
In other words, coffee can indeed be an indispensable part of a healthy lifestyle, as long as we drink it in moderation and with enjoyment, which is the essence of the ritual of drinking it.
The research also revealed an interesting fact: these benefits were not observed with the consumption of decaffeinated coffee, tea, or carbonated drinks, indicating that the combination of compounds present specifically in natural, home-brewed coffee is key to the positive effects.
Health benefits of coffee
Harvard analyses emphasize that moderate coffee consumption can contribute to heart health, better weight regulation, a lower risk of type 2 diabetes, and longevity.
Coffee is rich in antioxidants and natural bioactive compounds that support the body, and precisely because it has a mild stimulating effect, as well as a protective role, many scientists classify it as a “quality everyday habit.”
The message of the research is clear - home-brewed coffee, in an adequate amount, can have a positive effect on physical and mental health. So allow yourself to enjoy the moment of drinking your favorite beverage without interruption, because quality and moderation are exactly what make it perfect.
