A truly special coffee
Rwanda is up to the task when it comes to coffee cultivation, because the average altitude at which it is grown is 1,500 m! Dense tropical forests with fertile volcanic soil are not only an ideal place for growing high-quality coffee - they also protect the last mountain gorillas in the world. That is exactly why the “king of monkeys” is also depicted on our bag.

Visit the plantation
A few minutes away from the beautiful Lake Kivu, there is the Mubuga plantation for coffee processing and drying. It is the winner of the prestigious “Cup of Excellence” competition for the highest-quality coffee in the region. On average, the Mubuga plantation processes about 480 tons of coffee annually from farmers in the region, of which almost 40% are women.
Meet the farmers
Ugerageza Francois (45) has been growing coffee his entire life. With great dedication, love for the growing business, and the help of his family, his plantation has grown from an initial 100 trees to today’s 627 fragrant coffee trees.
